Our very own Operations Manager and Marketing Manager braved torrential downpours and cycled 54 miles from London to Brighton to raise money for the British Heart Foundation.
With a start time of 8am they were up and out of the door before 6am on a grey Sunday morning to head off to the start line in Clapham Common. Unfortunately, just 15 minutes into their ride the rain started, and then continued for the next 5 hours! The rain varied from just a lot of rain to torrential downpours with heavy surface water on the roads and despite wearing waterproofs they didn’t manage to stay dry.
When they arrived at the bottom of the famous and dreaded Ditchling Beacon (a 1.4km climb of 143m with an average gradient of 9% and a max gradient of 16% in places) the skies cleared and the rain finally stopped.
With a few short pit stops they managed to complete the ride in a very respectable time of just under 6 hours.
Well done guys!
